The best poker hands are made of three or more matching cards, with the highest pair winning. Straights are five cards of consecutive rank, while flushes contain any five cards of the same suit. Three of a kind is made up of three cards of the same rank, and two pairs are made up of two cards of the same rank, plus one unmatched card.
It is recommended that you start out playing low limits, such as the $5/$10 limit. This will allow you to play a large number of hands without risking too much money. It will also allow you to get a feel for the game and practice your strategy before moving up in stakes.
